I had an unexpected surprise at church this morning. Our friends came in with their baby, sat next to us, and within minutes that baby was in my arms! I think I may need to start volunteering in the nursery on Sunday mornings to get my weekly baby fix.
Been there, done that
9 AugIt’s that time of year again…back to school. I don’t know that I intentionally feel sad at back-to-school time, but so far, I’m 3 out of 3. Just seeing a school bus would make me sad last year when I’d see the bus and think to myself, “Sammy should be riding that bus.” Finally one day, it clicked with me that rather than feeling angry that Sammy couldn’t ride the bus anymore, I needed to rejoice in that he had the opportunity to ride a bus for 2 years, and he loved it so much. Suddenly, I began to see those short pre-school buses with the special wheelchair lifts, and I’d smile because I knew that Sammy had been there.
This is Sammy’s mommy
19 JulA friend recently introduced me to someone I had never met before, and during the introduction, she used a phrase that I rarely hear much these days…she referred to me as “Sammy’s mommy”. Next week at the HPE conference, everyone will remember me as “Sammy’s mommy”, and that will be nice to hear again.
